Lend Me Your Ear

Calling I am, thou nameless down yonder mile, lend me your ear,
Whisper a thing shall I, that bringeth a smile or forces forth a  tear.
Weary I am bearing a load of stories untold,
Lend me your ear so I may layer by layer, unfold.

Listen to me, cries out my soul so clear,
Wait I for that patient listener who seems so far, is yet so near.
Tired though I am wearing a countenance of feigned equanimity,
Lend me your ear, evoked by earnest interest, not condescending pity.

Long I tell you things, courage and words for which missed I so far,
For with time only emboldened my desires to finally speak out are.
Tell you shall I stories of my times tempestuous and trivialities forgettable,
Pouring out my heart without an expression superfluous and intent indubitable.

Wish I for some audience so dear, that pot now bubbling over so full,
Harness that flow someone or waste it goes, I mull.
Can you hear me, my insides are shrieking,
Lend me your ear, Hey!, is anyone listening?

Human Mind-Set : A Strangely Complex Entity

It’s a strangely complex entity, the human mind. Understanding and comprehending the mindset probably has had thousands of authors write millions of lines trying to account for how this curious essentiality works. So with me chipping in with some more, certainly won’t do anyone much harm.

The human race is born, imbued with the sense of being desirous of company. Particularly in today’s materialistic world where survival just isn’t possible without the support of your comrades and fellowmen.  However what’s peculiar is the type of company a personality chooses to be in, the pattern making for a picturesque kaleidoscope.

History is replete with examples of people aligning with a winning side. Nothing new. It’s human nature isn’t it, to be lured towards preponderant company. Today the superiority may be reflected in social status, intellect, number, creative vision or simply even the persona of the members of peer group. Why this affiliation? Simply because the human mind (in some cases) experiences a comfy snugness ensconced in more accomplished company. The mind often, out of awe, makes the person take to associating with someone superior in some form or the other. A prime example would be inter-sex relationships where the fairer sex often has the luxury of choosing a partner and is drawn towards the better abled man. Most wish to be friends with an established, adroit person not just to improve by some of the dust that shakes off him/her , but also it alleviates his/her image as perceived by others. The company one chooses is often influenced by social status. An association between two people of varying strata of society or may often be precociously misconstrued owing to today’s dogmas, as an attenuation of the higher man’s standards, thus greatly thinning its possibility. The strive towards excellence begets alliances that may be instrumental in achievement of proposed goal. Examples of such congressions are found everywhere in day-to-day life.

It’s mystifying however as the how much the mentality can differ from person to person.

“Birds of a feather flock together”. The universal veracity of this famous idiom can be challenged with the following. Some people tend to stick with people moderately inferior to them. Such cases generally arise in intellectual backgrounds where the more talented person enjoys a sense of security of position. The accomplishments of the latter can alleviate him/her a pseudo king among the mass of lesser beings, a feeling the mind can grow to derive faint pleasure out of. It germinates a confidence watered and fed by jealousy owing to others in competition. So why this change of mental disposition?

If one observes then a very subtle point common to both these cases may  noticed. The human psychology is trained to act to achieve a state of mental confidence and security. In the first case a person finds sanctuary in a group of paramounts which probably gives him/her a sense of being better positioned than before with peer support . Whilst in the second an accomplished person finds a safe haven in the company of his/her subordinates as he/she may extract a faculty of invincibility that definitely puts the mind at ease.
Thus it’s all about the mind acting of it’s volition for us and shaping our thinking and actions to our own benefit or disadvantage. It’s upto us as to how much leverage we give our mind and voluntarily exercise our discretion for our best.

For the mind is after all a strangely complex entity.

When

Picture myself on a grassy knoll, under a shady veil of a beech tree,

Lounging back, a worry not in the world on a sunny day, carefree.

A blissful breeze blowing in my face, caressing my hair,

Leafy shadows playing little games on my feet bare.

Strolling down a street, aside an array of many a  shops fancy,

A confident faint smile, arms loose on the side in their own rhythm merry.

Faculty to own what, place I a finger on,

Letting not a indecisive thought of the action to be even born.

My opinion becomes an action, my predilection someone's command,

Hegemony to dictate, my actions anyone endeavor not to reprimand.

Be scrupulous enough to veraciously demarcate black and white,

Adjudicate a million fates with one nod, such be my might.

Imagine I that day, know not how far away,

Inquire myself I, exist if it even may.

The thing only that makes me ponder,

When will it be if it ever is to be, or is it just a fragment of my wild imagination yonder?

Childhood : The Lost Gift

Hear do I peals of unfeigned laughter melting away in the distance,

Surpassing the most joyous expressions of mirth after all constraint riddance.

Witness I on closing my eyes, fleeting images several,

Conjure up an inimitable gaily childish prance, ephemeral.

An ineffable yearning engulfs me as I sink into my long lost childhood,

Of, wish I never come out even if I could.

Long I for that unrestrained laugh, to smile that angelic unblemished smile,

Enough to melt an iron heart, stretching a half a mile.

Ache I to unabashed cry that infantile cry, wash away my sorrow in a pool of tears,

Light as a feather is child's soul that no such burden bears.

Wish I to fall into one of those serene deep slumbers, a care not of the worldly grind,

For "Ignorance is Bliss" suits none better than the childhood mind.

The see-through peerless hearts, so easy to please, so easy to impress,

Spontaneous was any response, discretion was an ability a child never learnt to express.

Unbridled was the mind, uncluttered as it experimented on everything under the sun,

Restless would it be till accomplishment of set task was done.

Miss I the then lack of any materialistic accountability,

Our lexicon then, a little too small to accommodate any "responsibility".

Afraid are we now so express open our true feelings,

Repressing it  to our own discomfort, is my inkling.

Lost where is the joy, impulsiveness, innocence of childhood?

Is that price we have paid for gaining so defined adulthood?

Hidden it is in the deepest and yet most accessible vault in the natural self,

Failed have you to release the child locked within thyself.

Spread its wings and eager to soar unrestrained, clamors the child  us within,

Set it free and let the joys of childhood once again begin.

However old physically or mentally feel you may, always remember this part,

The key to never eternal happiness is to remain forever "A Child at Heart".

The Hues Of Life

A loud, bustling, welcoming din resounds I reckon,

Resplendent all-embracing colours, the arrival of "the festival of hues" beckon.

Innumerable are shades of yellow, red, orange, the greens and the blues,

Indefatigable becomes the spirit whilst playing with these effulgent hues.

Colours, material they may be, do they the "colours of life" impersonate,

Reflection of the inner joy and glee they unfeigned are, dear mate.

How impeccable is the joy and the smile on everyone's face,

Bound when are two in a tight, warm, well-wishing embrace.

Much deeper do the hues run, the deep emotional fiber they penetrate,

For sweet love does with lustrous colours emblazoned a smiling face,  hate and rancor vacate.

All spite and feelings despicable, do buckets of crimson and saffron wash away so easily,

For permanence if not, but transiently atleast is brought together everyone, in a family like close contiguity.

Forget the deepest running strifes, the very vestiges of animosity eradicate,

Inundated in the million colours, do the dyes with affection and goodwill veritably intoxicate.

The dye-stained hands coming to you to your face so gently besmear,

Think you they are a skin deep painting, mere?

Yet arises in my mind a doubt so baffling,

Seen aplenty on this day are colours everyone portraying,

The smiles, mirthful, vivacious looks with joy effortlessly dripping,

The ingenuous kindness and simplicity of expressing,

Yet so conspicuously are these very colours of our daily lives missing,

That should be the very essence of life all-pervading.

Did the material hues not wash away, the facial colours too did vapourise I bet,

Why can't those gleeful expressions and exultant faces in concrete not set.

Why can't the very same hue-formed tenderness and affection for our compatriots we not proclaim,

Spraying, smearing as if each day and the "Holi-colours day were one and the same.

Shedding all inhibitions why don't we each others joy, fortitude, emotions share and reciprocate,

Restricting ourselves we are, to for each separate day a different fixed emotions template.

Come let us throughout the world our colourful vibes spray,

Let the coloured rivers flow through every street, spreading the word of unbridled joy may,

Soak up the hues, witness the spectacle as the very colours literally frolic and play,

Hope I the picturesque, vivid Holi festival comes every day.

The Covert Astute Side

Strange it seems what change, Change the constant out can bill,

Play with human emotions, bend, contort, twist them at will.

Times change, situations remodel, sees the world a transition,

Metamorphosize do people, their attitudes none too oblivious to grotesque revision.

Covered by a translucent blanket of concealed untold feelings, an unseen mask they wear,

Wonder I how the weight of such camouflaged, covert senses they so easily bear.

No longer true to themselves, let alone the surrounding fraternity, veraciously true to be they so blatantly feign,

Yet mix so efficaciously among all they do for flagrant lies, deception, aspersion today so undauntedly reign.

With such discrepancy in one's nature with time, intangible and ambiguous a person's temperament,

To trust it does obviate, leaving you in a weary predicament.

Makes you think "A kiss today, a stab tomorrow will it be",

For that wait my friend for witness to it shall be only time and destiny.

Friends you helped graciously in their hour of need and penury,

In hope of them thanking you in your times formidable, challenging, for your magnanimity,

Now having climbed the ladder they so conspicuously in your miseries revel,

Casting you aside with profane sense of impiety like a street pebble.

A joke shared a moment ago with false promises of supporting mentally and morally,

Conned they you next, leaving an interminable remorse of ever developing close contiguity.

A mask they pose, come as friends dearer than the sweetest fairy possible,

With hearts green and selfish minds depart they doing inordinate damage incorrigible.

Be not beguiled my friends by looks and promising faces alone,

Possess the spirit to look into one's intent and soul through and through like a hole.

Root out the counterfeit lying inside you, throw off that astute mask, behold your peerless side,

And lead an impeccable life with the laws of healthy friendship humanity abide.

A Promise

An invisible bond, pure as snow, strong enough to drill,

No doubt through the toughest wall, if strong enough is your will,

Held together apparently by power of just a few simple words,

Yet regarded exceedingly by even He who sits above where fly the birds.

Bringing a unfeigned smile on a child's face, buy his actions and loyalty,

Console and blow life in the hope of a man pushed even to the last edges of fortitude and penury.

Giving meaning to the existence of several, providing them a reason to live,

A promise is often veraciously the last piece of valuables that a person can afford to give.

Start a revolution, build a new nation, complete an unprecedented space program,

Astonishing  with skills and efforts beamonesque has always formed the initials of a true promise's monogram.

Be it a ridiculously trivial weight lose spree, or in a remote place creation of a new power station,

Promises have always managed to create an unmissable fascinating sensation.

Giving herculean strength with hope unsurmount,

Sure it does give you enough responsibility and reason to make your word count.

In today's world of immeasurable wealth where values and ethics have taken a severe batter,

Standing true to you promises is the ultimate test of real fame and character.

The unnamed soldier promised to come back gale and hearty,

Destiny perhaps did not allow him to attend the post-war party.

Buy the kid his favourite toy, attend his school programme did the parents promise,

Burdened, rather forced by time ever short, finances unaccounted they knew they committed amiss.

Allow us to fulfill our promises the elements always may not,

But try sincerely we must to prevent against our honour a black blot.

Revel some in the black spoils, a result of deceit and unfulfilled promise,

Let them know that last very short those undeserved moments of temporary bliss.

So make a promise to make true your promises,

For present times we witness a scene where honour and word value so conspicuously misses.
