Inhibition: The Curse of Mental Reality

Inhibition is a thing  perfidious, so astutely vile,

It's clutches on your actions stretch down a lengthy mile.

Dissuade you it will to differently act, strike a thought new fancy,

Shares it does with our impulses a constant discrepancy.

Reprimand it will if you tread a path yet unchosen, or a new expedition,

Present always before you start it will another demoralizing premonition.

Choking the very life out of the meagre courage ever herded,

Posses it does the power to strike fear in the hearts of the bravest ever  existed.

Say I cannot with surety of the true nature of 'inhibition',

Sure it has in many a warrior the burning flame of patriotism, first extinguished and then frozen.

Heard you must have of lovers infinite who fell and whitened away before they could express,

Lived a many scientist, scholar whose intellectual passion could not the monster of inhibition transgress.

Social, economic, psychological is the barrier it conjures,

A thousand non-existent weakness it reflects through infinite mirrors.

The soul is caged and the heart by the mind muted,

Most of the time makes you do what's not best suited.

Preventing a clear picture of the goal, making even the best dreams sour,

Induces the sick notion of "so near, yet so far".

Retrospect upon how much different it would have been had this despicable thing not been there,

Lives changed, generations anew, nations unseen and new friends to share.

So exterminate this out from within my friends, let the soul breathe afresh,

Spread wide the wings, let the heart fly you free from the present mesh.

Light the torch of adventure and set sail on journeys unmapped,

Bring home the memories of undreamed goals and ride on impulse undamped.
